Dave began his career in the wine industry in 1985 as a vineyard manager for Farrow Ranch. This ranch is located in the foothills east of Geyserville in Alexander Valley. At the time, it was a 300 acre parcel that consisted of 30 acres of grapes and prune orchards. The grapes were of Italian descent that unfortunately at the time, were not in great demand. The first order of business was to remove them all and start over. There was no water source, so after repeated unsuccessful attempts to drill a well, a reservoir was built. Everything that you needed to do to develop a ranch had to be done (fencing, drainage, irrigation).

During the development of the vineyard, Dave attended many classes at SRJC and Davis for viticulture as well as enology.  Only one original acre of Chardonnay was left planted so that Dave could put into practice the lessons learned. Zinfandel that had been purchased from a friend in Dry Creek, was added to his second year of making wine. In 1988 Dave won the amateur winemaker’s best red at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair.  After many years of making wine for family and friends, it was decided to take it to the next level. All winemaking is done by Dave with help from family and friends for bottling.

One of the existing buildings at Farrow Ranch where Dave is the manager, was refurbished to accommodate winemaking. Grapes are sourced from Farrow Ranch, Teldeschi Vineyards, & Stuhlmuller Vineyards. Production is less than 100 cases per varietal. Dave and Barb feel very fortunate to live and work in Sonoma County. They hope you enjoy their wine as much as they enjoy making it.
